Blue Economy Parallel

Just as the blue economy emphasizes sustainable use of marine resources, integrated water resource management promotes the coordinated development and management of water, land, and related resources. We promote watershed management practices that ensure the health and sustainability of freshwater sources, which ultimately flow into coastal and marine environments.

Freshwater Aquaculture

We invest in sustainable freshwater aquaculture that provide food and livelihoods without harming aquatic ecosystems, developing fishery management plans for our freshwater species, to ensure sustainable harvest levels and protect biodiversity.

Habitat Conservation and Restoration

We have diverse initiatives that supports the conservation and restoration of marine habitats such as coral reefs and mangroves, which have counterparts in freshwater ecosystems.

Blue Economy Institute

Our Blue Economy Institute is dedicated to fostering sustainable development in Africa's coastal, marine and freshwater sectors, with a strong focus on alleviating poverty. By promoting the sustainable use and management of ocean, coastal and fresh water resources, the Institute aims to create jobs, enhance livelihoods, and contribute to economic growth, thereby reducing poverty in coastal communities.

Recruitment

A key aspect of our mission is addressing the recruitment needs of the maritime sector, which encompasses a wide range of activities from shipping and logistics to marine conservation and renewable energy. By fostering talent development and creating opportunities, the Chamber helps bridge the gap between job seekers and employers in the maritime industry.
